If you have gout, limit red meats, seafood, and alcohol, as well as sugary drinks and processed foods. Red meats and seafood are high in purines, which cause uric acid crystals to form in your joints. Alcohol increases the amount of uric acid in your blood.

You can place your custom-designed orthotics in your regular street shoes or athletic shoes. However, Dr. Frazier also recommends trading in shoes that have high heels or narrow toe boxes for well-constructed, fashionable shoes that are flat and give your toes breathing room.
